Old newsServer RestoredDecember 4th, 2009I've reinstalled the server and everything is up and running again. The forum had to be restored from a backup made this summer though, so anything posted or anyone registered since june is gone. Server CrashDecember 3rd, 2009Yesterday my server broke down completely, the filesystem was totally trashed and the database was ruined. Unfortunately, it will be a while until I get everything up and running again as I did not have backups of everything. I am not sure I will be able to rescue the forum. Perhaps I will set up a different kind of forum, phpbb has proven to be quite messy and full of spam no matter how I try to combat the problem. Screamer Radio v0.4.0 releasedAugust 18th, 2008Two years have passed since the last stable release, which is far, far too long. But here it is, finally, a new stable version. It contains tons and tons of bugfixes and a couple of new features. So there's really no reason to wait.. Development blogAugust 17th, 2008I've tried restinging blogging for a long time, but I finally caved in. Today I just launched my development weblog where I will discuss the development of Screamer Radio, starting with a rather large post about the current state of affairs. New serversApril 10th, 2008Now I moved the entire site to the new webserver and set up a new download server for downloads, hopefully there won't be any more bandwith exceeded messages when trying to download Screamer Radio. Forum updated to phpBB 3March 27th, 2008Unfortunately, a while ago I had do disable forum registrations due to massive amounts of spam. Today I had some spare time over so I upgraded the forum to phpBB 3 and moved it to a new faster server. Hopefully this new version will be more resilient to spambots. Rebuilt websiteMarch 26th, 2007There we go, I rebuilt the website from the ground up using Smarty (a competent template engine for PHP). So now it'll hopefully be easier for me to extend the features of the website and redesign it some day. Extension plans include error reporting and sort of a new station suggestion box in the radio directory. Getting CloserFebruary 15th, 2007I've had a few issues preventing me from releasing a new stable release, and I think I've resolved most of them now. Anyway, a new public beta is out. Go to the download section to try it out. New Public BetaJanuary 20th, 2007All right, it's been a while but I finally released an updated public beta. Hopefully, if this version works well enough I'll release it as the stable release. Well, what are you waiting for.. go to the download section right away and try it out. =) Merry ChristmasDecember 24th, 2006In case you are wondering what has happened to the development of Screamer Radio, this is what's going on. I am currently working full time as a developer so I can only spend a few hours a week working on Screamer Radio. However, a new release with full UNICODE support (better language support) is underway.. I might release it in a few days or a few weeks, we'll see. But for now, I just wanted to wish everyone a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year! =) And thanks for staying with us, the Screamer Radio userbase keeps growing and growing, slowly but steadily. New BetaMay 24th, 2006I just released a new beta with some bug fixes and a few new language files, hope it works better than the last beta. Forum Back Up.. Again!May 24th, 2006Yes, I'm sure you've noticed the forum works again. A new ADSL modem has been installed and it seems to be working fine for the moment. Lightning StormMay 23th, 2006So the forum is down again, this time because of a lightning storm. The ADSL modem was fried, so the forum will be down for a couple of days. Thankfully the rest of my website is running on a server in a different city.. Forum Problems, No MoreMay 17th, 2006Finally, the forum seems to be working again, I'll think twice the next time I'll try to update phpBB. :) Forum ProblemsMay 15th, 2006While attempting to upgrade phpBB to the latest version I accidentally managed to mess things up, I lost the config file before I realised I had no backup. The database in itself is not lost, so I will try my best to restore the forum when I can find the time. Remember kids, always backup your data.. and your config files. Released Version 0.3.8February 6th, 2006Finally, a new version of Screamer Radio! This time you'll be able to add favorites more easily! Bugfixes, improvements, support for MSN Messenger "What I'm Listening To"-feature, and a new version of BASS with support for AAC streams is also included! You may also have noticed that the presets have been considerably updated in your old version too! This is thanks to a new online database that is a lot easier to maintain, expect the database to grow bigger and better from here on! Also, I would like to take this opportunity to thank Ludwik that has helped me populate the database with a lot of interesting radio stations. And finally, thanks everyone who has donated money! Every cent is appreciated! :) Well, what are you waiting for? Head on to the download now! Merry Christmas!December 24th, 2005Christmas has arrived in Sweden and I would like to wish everyone happy holidays, merry christmas and a happy new year! May your meals be great and your presents be plentiful. :) Take care! Fall cleanupSeptember 7th, 2005A new season has arrived and I have gotten started in school again. Hopefully I will get some spare time over to keep developing Screamer Radio. Now, during the past few months a lot of radio stations have stopped working and I finally did something about it. It took me all evening but now more than 40 radio stations that wasn't working are now working again. No new radio stations has been added yet but I'll do that some another evening. For more details see this text file. Hope things work better now.. :) Released Version 0.3.7May 31th, 2005As the headline suggests version 0.3.7 is now released, it is essentially dev build 050524 with an additional feature. Check out the history or head on to the download right away. A quick estimate tells me version 0.3.6 had a total of more than 58 thousand downloads worldwide since it's release in february, let's hope we can continue this tradition so keep on downloading. Also, I would like to personally thank every single one of you who has donated money to keep this project going, I appreciate the gesture a lot! :) New dev buildMay 24th, 2005Finally I managed to get some work done so I've released a new development version you can try out, it has a couple of bugfixes, some new features and updated BASS libraries. Head on to the download right away! Slow progressMarch 19th, 2005I've been taking it easy lately and haven't really coded very much in the past few weeks. I have a UNICODE version up and running though, albeit a little bit unstable for some reason. I've also fixed a few bugs and worked with Ian (the developer of BASS) to fix a WMA related streaming bug. Another thing worth noting is that I have delegated some work to a friend of mine, hopefully he'll do a better job than I have in keeping the presets updated. So when will there be an update? I don't really know yet.. there are some things that really needs doing, for instance an easier way of managing your favorites. I'll get right on it as soon as I have the time and strength to do so. Screamer Radio now on Download.comMarch 2nd, 2005I've now signed up for the basic file hosting and download service provided by CNET Download.com, this service costs me $9 USD a month or $108 USD a year. My hope is that Download.com will help attract more users to Screamer Radio and help make it even better. Your generous donations enable me to pay for services like this one, thank you. :) More language filesFebruary 27th, 2005I added some more language files to the customize section of the website. Screamer Radio v0.3.6 finally released..!February 24th, 2005This major update of Screamer Radio includes features such as OGG recording, WMA stream recording (encoding it to mp3 really), record buffering, language files, lots of bugfixes, better connection handling, a connection history, improved stability and it's faster! Don't hesitate to download it right away.. and perhaps donate a coin or two. After all, it's for a worthy cause. ;) Time flies..February 19th, 2005Wow, 10 days later and I still haven't finished beta 6. I've implemented support for WMA recording through Lame and localization (language) support. I need to work some more on some smaller features, but it'll be worth the wait. :) Next version coming soonFebruary 9th, 2005Work has been coming along fine on the next version of Screamer Radio, hopefully it will be done within a couple of days. New features include recording of Ogg Vorbis streams and recording buffering. Also, I'd like to thank everyone that has donated money recently, it really helps motivating me to continue my work, thank you. Screamer RadioFebruary 2nd, 2005I figured Screamer Radio would be easier to find with it's own domain so I figured I'd just register screamer-radio.com.. and now you're looking at it. To celebrate this move I also made a new design, you like? :) More donations :)February 1st, 2005It's nice to see how many generous people there are out there, thank you very much for your donations! I mean it! :) I created a page to thank those that have donated money and helped with other stuff, I'll try to keep it updated. If you don't want your name on the contributors page, just let me know. Again, thanks! $15 more dollars contributedJanuary 31st, 2005Wow, I got another 15 dollars donated to my PayPal account, 10 from Samantha and 5 from Mark.. very generous, I guess I'll have to work harder on Screamer Radio from now on. ;) Screamer v0.3 beta 5January 29th, 2005Released beta 5, check out the history and head on to the download. :) $5 dollar contributionJanuary 29th, 2005Yesterday I received a generous $5 donation from a new Screamer Radio user, that's the first money I've ever made on programming, hah. Thank you! :) In other news work is progressing rather nicely and soon I will finally have reconnection support and such, I'm just sorry I hadn't implemented that sooner. |
